Was born in 1928 in Barandot of the Kemerovo region. In 1961 graduated from the Kazan average art school; in 1973 - the Moscow state printing institute as «graphic artist». Thesis: «V. Belov. Carpenter's stories» - art and technical registration. Since 1967 lives in Novgorod. In 1974 it is accepted in members of the Union of artists of the USSR. Participant of many zone, republican and foreign exhibitions. Works by the painter are stored in funds of the Novgorod state memorial estate, in private collections in Russia and abroad.
The artist is absolutely recognized. In 1960 his works differed in the accented, quite often rigid contour, deformation of the objective world, active color that did them especially expressive. In 1970 D.S. Kondratyev addresses an esthetics of «primitive». He refuses direct prospect, from realistically transferred colors and forms, limits himself to several constantly varying plots. Its art gained deeply symbolical character. Every image is a step to a prototype – the great idea keeping the world let in tragic, but balance. In forty years in art the artist created own world mythologized, connecting folklore and the Christian idea, the world rich and generous.
