Adrian Vladimirovich Kaplun (August 27, 1887, Perm - April 25, 1974, St. Petersburg) - Russian and Soviet artist, graphic artist, painter and printmaker. He studied at the Perm Technical School (1902-1905), the school of drawing A. Shanin and the Stroganov Central Art and Industrial School (1905-1906), the St. Petersburg Central School of Technical Drawing (graduated in 1912). Leading teachers: V.V. Mate (in engraving), V. E. Savinsky (in painting). Participates in exhibitions since 1910. Member of associations: «Perm Society of Lovers of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture»; «Community of artists»; «World of Art»; «4 art».
Taught. Pupils: V. Kobelev, V.I. Kurdov, V.M. Oreshnikov, V.D. Tselmer and others. Since 1922 he lived in Leningrad. He participated in international exhibitions of Soviet art in Berlin and New York.
Collaborated with the magazines Red Panorama and Red Cornfield. He designed and illustrated books for publishers, was the art editor of Izogiz. At the very beginning of 1941 in the printing workshop of the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of the Academy of Arts of the USSR. Repin worked on the lithographic series «The Caucasus of the Lermontov era». Litographed by the author, before the start of the war, the album was never replicated (only a few copies are known).
He spent the war in blocked Leningrad (he worked and drew posters).
Albums of autolithographs: «Crimea» (1922); «Georgia» (1925); Bukhara (1956). A series of lithographs of the destroyed suburbs of Leningrad: «Petrodvorets. Pushkin. Pavlovsk» (1944). In the 1950s and 1960s, he spent on numerous trips (including foreign ones). He painted and painted in oil, engaged in printmaking.
