Rakhina Valentina Ivanovna (June 9, 1932, Leningrad, USSR - 2013, St. Petersburg, Russia) - Soviet and Russian artist, painter, teacher, member of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists (until 1992 - the Leningrad organization of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR).
In 1948-1953 she studied at the Secondary Art School at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E.Rapin. In 1953 she entered the first year of the institute, studied with A. D. Zaitsev, V. V. Sokolov, L. V. Khudyakov. She graduated from the institute in 1959 in the workshop of B.V. Ioganson with the title of artist of painting. Thesis - painting «White Nights».
In 1960 she was admitted to the Leningrad Union of Artists. In 1961-1968 she taught painting at the Leningrad Higher School of Industrial Art named after V.I.Mukhina. In 1970-1980 she made creative trips to Altai, Crimea, Karelia, Kostroma, Pskov region, visited France, Italy, Syria, Lebanon, England, Holland.
Since 1959 she has participated in exhibitions, exhibiting her works together with the works of the leading masters of the visual arts of Leningrad. She worked mainly in the genre of landscape, still life, interior. Together with her husband, artist German Egoshin, she participated in an exhibition of eleven Leningrad artists in 1972. Among the works created by Rakhina are the paintings «Lilac. Still Life» (1959), «Veranda», «Swan Canal» (both 1960), «Morning», «Klaipeda» (both 1961), «Griboyedov Canal», «Still Life. Coffee Pot» (both 1964), «Syria. Malulya» (1968), «At the Window», «Jugs on a Red Table» (both 1969), «Pechora» (1970), «Rustic Still Life» (1971), «Balcony. Rose hips», «Cacti and lemons», «Callas», «Chrysanthemums» (all 1972), «Winter window» (1973), «Interior», «Flowers and aquarium» (both 1975), «Peonies» (1976) , «Winter Canal», «Peonies and a Green Sofa» (both 1978), «Interior of Y. Krestovsky's Studio» (1979), «Vladimirskaya Square. Lilac», «Autumn. Chrysanthemums», «Kikin chambers. Cyclamens» (all 1980), «In the Crimea» (1982), «Interior in the workshop», «Thorns on a red background» (both 1988) and others. Valentina Rakhina's personal exhibition took place in 1985 in the halls of the Leningrad Union of Artists.
Valentina Ivanovna Rakhina's works are in museums and private collections in Russia, the USA, Japan, Belgium, Switzerland, France and other countries.
Valentina Rakhina was a member of the Leningrad group of artists «Eleven». A group of the brightest representatives of the «leftist Leningrad Union of Artists» united to participate in two exhibitions, in 1972 and 1976. The exhibitions were held in the exhibition hall of the Union of Artists of Russia on Okhta. The group also included German Yegoshin, Zaven Arshakuni, Valery Vatenin, Vitaly Tyulenev, Yaroslav Krestovsky, Boris Shamanov, Valentina Rakhina, Evgenia Antipova, Leonid Tkachenko, sculptor Konstantin Simun, the artists were also supported by art critic L.V. Mochalov.
