Zagonek Vyacheslav Frantsevich

Zagonek Vyacheslav Frantsevich (1919, Irkutsk – 1994, St. Petersburg). National Artist of the USSR. Full member of Academy of Arts of the USSR. The winner of the State Award of I.E. Repin. Gentleman Ordena of the Battle Red Flag. A.R. Eberling (I.E. Repin's pupil, the artist at the Imperial yard of Nicholas II) became the first teacher of V.F. Zagonek. In 1936 is admitted to High art school at Academy of Arts in Leningrad. In 1939 it is called in ranks of the Red Army, becomes the participant Finnish, and then and the Great Patriotic War. In 1950 I have graduated from Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture of I.E. Repin in Leningrad on B.V. Ioganson's workshop (the thesis «Spring in collective farm»). The all-Union popularity to V.F. Zagonek was brought by works «Morning» (1958-1960) and «The thunderstorm has passed» (1961). Personal exhibitions took place in Warsaw (1962), St. Petersburg (1968, 1989, 2000, 2005), Moscow (1968). Works are stored in the State Tretyakov gallery, the State Russian Museum, other large museums of the former USSR.
