Rasul Gamzatovich Gamzatov (1923-2003) - an outstanding Soviet poet, prose writer, publicist, Soviet and Russian public and political figure, translator. Laureate of the Stalin (1952), Lenin (1963) and Komsomol (1971) prizes, People's Poet of the Dagestan ASSR (1959), Hero of Socialist Labor (1974).
