Georgy V. Kovenchuk (1933-2015) - graphic artist, member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, member of the Union of Artists of Russia. Born in 1933 in Leningrad. He graduated from the Leningrad State Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. I.E. Repin (1960). He began working in the Battle Pencil in 1956 as a student. He was engaged in book and easel graphics. The author of illustrations for books and works of V. Aksenov, M. Argilli, A. Balabuha, A. Zhitinsky, V. Kolupaev, V. Popov, I. Rosokhovatsky, brothers Strugatsky, A. Tomilin, A. Shalimov.
Participant of many All-Russian and International exhibitions. 1994 - silver medal at the International Exhibition in the Czech Republic. His works are in the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), in private collections in Germany, Sweden, England. In 1999 French TV finished filming a documentary about the artist’s life and work. Grandfather G. Kovenchuk - Nikolai Kulbin, a famous artist and avant-garde theorist.
