Tatyana Alekseevna Mavrina (Mavrina-Lebedeva) (December 7 (20), 1902, Nizhny Novgorod - August 19, 1996, Moscow) - Russian Soviet painter, graphic artist, illustrator. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1981). Laureate of the USSR State Prize (1975). Tatyana Alekseevna was born on December 7 (20), 1902 in Nizhny Novgorod in the family of a teacher and writer Alexei Ivanovich Lebedev. Mother, Anastasia Petrovna, came from the noble family of the Mavrins and also engaged in teaching activities. The younger brother Sergey is an academician, the founder of the Soviet computer industry. In 1920, the family moved to Moscow.
In 1921-1929 she studied at Vhutemas-Vkhutein (teachers - N.V. Sinezubov, G.V. Fedorov, R.R. Falk). She was a member of the Thirteen group. Since 1930, she used the maiden name of her mother, Mavrina, as a pseudonym. Husband - artist N.V. Kuzmin (1890-1987).
In the post-war years, she began to write in a bright and open manner, close to primitivism, Old Russian and folk art. She worked a lot not only in painting, but also in book illustration (she designed more than 200 books). Some of the drawings by Mavrina served as the basis for small stories written by Yuri Koval. Her work is known for theater and cinema. Tatyana Mavrina died on August 19, 1996. She was buried in Moscow in the columbarium of the Novodevichy cemetery (section No. 148).
