Illarion Nikolaevich Pleschinsky (April 28, 1892, Dokshitsy, Vitebsk province of the Russian Empire - February 6, 1961, Kiev) - Ukrainian Soviet artist, graphic artist, teacher, professor (since 1948), member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR (1938). Until 1909 he studied at the Minsk Real College, then continued his studies at the Imperial Society for the Promotion of Arts at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts under the leadership of I. Ya. Bilibin, A. A. Rylov, N. K. Roerich. Member of the First World War. He fell into German captivity, in which he spent 4 years until 1918. In 1919-1921 studied at the Kazan free art workshops (later the Kazan Art and Technical Institute. Subsequently, he headed the lithography workshop and headed the graphic department of the institute.
In the mid-1920s he moved to Kiev. He taught at the Kiev Art Institute (1925-1934, 1944-1961; since 1948 - professor) and the Civil Engineering Institute (1934-1944). Among his famous students: V.K. Avramenko, G. Gavrilenko, B. Ginzburg, A. Danchenko, I. Dzyuban, G. Yakutovich and others. Representative of the Russian avant-garde. The artist's works were exhibited at exhibitions of all levels - from national to international. Personal exhibitions of Pleshchinsky took place in 1924, 1939, 1964, 1978, 1983. His works are in the collections of the largest museums in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Kiev, as well as in private collections around the world.
He died on February 6, 1961. He was buried in Kiev at the Baykovsky cemetery.
