Uspensky Mikhail Nikolaevich (1915–1998). At the end of the Art and Pedagogical College in 1938, he left for the military units of the Northern Fleet of the USSR. As a professional artist, he was assigned to work at the Krasnoflotsky Drama Theater of the Northern Fleet. Due to the fact that scenography was practically not taught at the Art and Pedagogical School, he studied theatrical and decorative art on his own. In 1940 he became the organizer of the exhibition «Arctic in Painting», in which five artists participated. He participated in military operations during the Great Patriotic War. After demobilization in 1946 he returned to Leningrad, where he worked as an artist at the Museum of the Arctic and Antarctic for twenty-eight years. He collaborated as an artist with other museums, arranged personal exhibitions. Landscapes made using the tempera technique and color linocut predominate in the artist’s work.
