Vyrzhikovsky Edward Yakovlevich (April 18, 1928, Irkutsk - April 30, 2008, St. Petersburg) - Russian Soviet painter, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, member of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists (until 1992 - the Leningrad organization of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR). Edward Yakovlevich Vyrzhikovsky was born on April 18, 1928 in Irkutsk. In 1948 he graduated from the Secondary Art School at the USSR Academy of Arts in Leningrad. In the same year he entered the painting department of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin, studied with Peter Belousov, Alexander Zaitsev. In 1954 he graduated from the institute in the workshop of Professor Boris Ioganson with the qualification of a painting artist. Thesis - painting «At lunchtime».
Participated in exhibitions since 1952, exhibiting his works together with the works of the leading masters of the fine arts of Leningrad. He painted genre paintings, landscapes, portraits, still lifes. In 1957 he became a member of the Leningrad Union of Artists. In 2001, Vyrzhikovsky was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
He died on March 29, 2008 in St. Petersburg at the age of 80.
