Vyrzhikovsky Edward Yakovlevich (April 18, 1928, Irkutsk - April 30, 2008, St. Petersburg) - Russian Soviet painter, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, member of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists (until 1992 - the Leningrad organization of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR). Edward Yakovlevich Vyrzhikovsky was born on April 18, 1928 in Irkutsk. In 1948 he graduated from the Secondary Art School at the USSR Academy of Arts in Leningrad. In the same year he entered the painting department of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin, studied with Peter Belousov, Alexander Zaitsev. In 1954 he graduated from the institute in the workshop of Professor Boris Ioganson with the qualification of a painting artist. Thesis - painting «At lunchtime».

Participated in exhibitions since 1952, exhibiting his works together with the works of the leading masters of the fine arts of Leningrad. He painted genre paintings, landscapes, portraits, still lifes. In 1957 he became a member of the Leningrad Union of Artists. Among the works created by the artist, the paintings «Fontanka» (1952), «Autumn Day» (1954), «The Last Lilac» (1955), «May», «Kupava» (both 1956), «St. Isaac's Square», «Spring in village», «Old Volochyok », «Stream»(all 1957), «Beginning of May», «Moscow Region», «Winter Volochek» (all 1958), «Ancient Pskov», «Spring Rain», «Vyshny Volochek» (all 1959), «Winter in Izborsk», «Pskov motive» (both 1960), «Skating rink», «The beginning of winter. Torzhok», «On the outskirts», «Factory stadium» (all 1961), «Rostov. Kremlin», «Pskov. Kremlin» (both 1962), «March», «Spring», «Suzdal. Snow fell», «Zagorsk. Winter» (all 1964), «Spring in Torzhok», «Stream», «Torzhok. Kremlin» (all 1965), «Moscow. Kremlin Cathedrals», «Trigorskoye. Upper Pond», «Savkino. Spring Day» (all 1969), «Leningrad. On the Neva», «Spring on the Volga. Tutaev» (both 1975), «Near Volokolamsk» (1977), «Cloudy Day», «Tutaev. At the ancient settlement» (both 1978), «Yaroslavl», «Moscow. Kremlin», «On the Volga. May» (all 1980), «Winter in Romanovo-Borisoglebsk» (1996) and others. In 1989-1992, works by E. Ya. Vyrzhikovsky were successfully presented at exhibitions and auctions of Russian painting L 'Ecole de Leningrad in France. In 2001, Vyrzhikovsky was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.

He died on March 29, 2008 in St. Petersburg at the age of 80.

The works of E. Ya. Vyrzhikovsky are in museums and private collections in Russia, France, Japan, Great Britain, Finland and other countries.
