Sokolov Vasily Vasilievich (1915-2013) - People's Artist of Russia, Professor of the Department of Painting and Composition of the St. Petersburg State Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin. Head of a personal workshop at the painting department of the St. Petersburg State Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. I.E. Repin of the Russian Academy of Arts, was chairman of the Leningrad branch of the Union of Artists of Russia. Laureate of the State Prize in the field of fine arts, awarded many medals for participating in the Great Patriotic War, medal of the Order «For Merit to the Fatherland of the 2nd Degree» and others.
He has taken part in many international, regional and city exhibitions in Moscow and St. Petersburg, in foreign countries: China, France, USA, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain and others. VV Sokolov’s paintings were purchased and are located in the Kremlin, the ministry culture, the State Russian Museum, the art fund of Russia, museums of Russia (Veliky Novgorod, Krasnoyarsk, Murmansk, Petrozavodsk and others), Ukraine, Belarus and other countries near and far abroad.
