Igor Vladimirovich Suvorov (born 1932, Leningrad) - painter, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (2005), member of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists (until 1992 - the Leningrad Organization of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR).
Suvorov Igor Vladimirovich was born on April 28, 1932 in Leningrad. During the Great Patriotic War, he survived the blockade of Leningrad as a child. In the late 1940s, he studied in the studio of the Leningrad Palace of Pioneers and Schoolchildren under the guidance of a famous teacher S. D. Levin. Later he entered the Secondary Art School at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin.
After graduating from secondary school, Suvorov in 1954 entered the Faculty of Painting of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin. He studied with Valery Pimenov, Leonid Khudyakov, Alexander Zaitsev. In 1960 he graduated from the institute in the workshop of Professor Boris Johanson. Thesis - a series of Leningrad landscapes «Nevsky Prospect», «Quay of Lieutenant Schmidt», «Twilight».
After graduation, he taught at the Leningrad Higher Industrial Art College named after V.I. Mukhina at the Department of General Painting. At the same time, he works a lot creatively, mainly in the genre of urban landscape. The first participation in exhibitions dates back to 1959. Since the beginning of the 1960s, Igor Suvorov has constantly exhibited his works at city, republican and all-union exhibitions. In 1962 he was admitted to the Leningrad branch of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR.
For many years, the artist has remained faithful to the main theme of his work, chosen in the process of working on a diploma painting - the Leningrad landscape. The works of 1960-1970 put him among the leading masters of this genre. Another theme of the artist’s work was the untouched nature of northern Russia: Karelia, the Northern Urals, Ladoga, Vologda region.
On January 28, 1989, in the halls of the Leningrad organization of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR, the first personal exhibition of works by Igor Suvorov opened, an illustrated catalog of her with an article about the artist was published by candidate of art M.P. Tubli. The works of Igor Vladimirovich Suvorov are in the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, in museums and private collections in Russia, Finland, China, Japan, Great Britain, France and other countries.
